Jiffy-tite wins the 2009 Popular Mechanics Editors Choice Award for the New TMAX Transmission Thermostat

Jiffy-Tite Company of Lancaster NY wins the 2009 Popular Mechanics Editors Choice Award for their new TMAX Transmission Thermostat at the AAPEX Expo in Las Vegas.

The TMAX™ Transmission Thermostat Kit, Patent Pending, quickly warms the automatic transmission fluid and maintains it at the optimum level for up to 8% improvement in fuel economy.

Designed and manufactured by Jiffy-Tite Company, the TMAX is also used by large O.E.’s to help achieve the new fuel economy standards for passenger cars and trucks. It is based on the fact that fuel economy improves as oil temperature increases. With the TMAX, no longer will you be robbed of fuel economy by over-cooled transmission oil.  Your transmission oil temperature will be managed according to MPG efficiency, vehicle load, and climate conditions.

The Popular Mechanics magazine editors chose the TMAX because it is based on the sound principle of reduced hydrostatic drag at higher ATF temperatures and the fact that there is Wind Tunnel data to back up the claims.  “We’ve tested many gas saving gadgets over the years”, stated Popular Mechanics.  “ But most claim far more than they actually deliver. The T-Max Transmission Thermostat is a more promising product. The device bypasses the transmission’s cooler at startup, so the oil inside the gearbox warms up more quickly and provides less friction. The lower friction increases fuel economy.
